Despite claims by EWS these locos were developed from the bodyshell of the Foster Yeoman Class 59's, all were built by General Motors, London, Ontario (Canada) and fitted with a GM 12N-710G3B-EC 2 stroke Diesel engine developing 3200HP and GM Alternator and Traction Motors. Now the standard Diesel Locomotive in use in the UK.
