2-EPB unit 6318 and class 501 unit No.164 at London Broad Street station on 1 May 1985 forming Richmond services, the ex-S.R 2-EPBs operating during the peak hours only at this time. From 13 May 1985 the service to Richmond was diverted away from Broad Street, leaving only the peak hour Watford Junction services serving the station, the 2-EPBs replacing the class 501s upon their withdrawal. The former North London Railway Broad Street station was formally closed on 30 June 1986 and the 2-EPBs then took over the whole of the London Midland Region's North London Line services between Richmond and North Woolwich, until replaced by class 313 units in 1989. ©Gordon Edgar/Rail Photoprints
