The 'mighty' Deltics, in my opinion the 'king' of the diesel fleets. Manufactured by English Electric at the Vulcan Foundry and powered by two Napier Deltic T18-25 1650HP engines, while reliability was not their strong point when they worked they were masters of their craft as shown by the ECML services in their era. Introduced in 1961 the class numbered 22 locos but all were withdrawn by 2/1/82. Fortunately several have been preserved largely thanks to the efforts of the Deltic Preservation Society.
