One of Bath Road's 350HP Shunters D3806 runs down Ashley Down Bank and approaches Narroways Junction with empty spoil wagons from Filton DCE ballast tip, 6/5/69. Some 16 years later the decision was made to remove the 2 right hand tracks, the theory being that the 2 left hand tracks could cope with the requirements of the services, including freight. In 2019 Network Rail decided that the existing 2 track configuration was inadequate for projected traffic levels and the decision was made to quadrify the route once again, surely an excellent case of 'Back to the Future'. ©Hugh Ballantyne/Rail Photoprints
