Developed by Foster Yeoman and General Motors the first 4 locos arrived in the UK in January 1986 and after a short period of testing assumed stone hauling duties from Foster Yeoman's Merehead facility, another loco was purchased in 1989. They now operate from a loco pool managed by 'Mendip Rail' along with the 59/1's.
