Former prototype HST power car No.W42001 was withdrawn in November 1976 and subsequently used by the Railway Technical Centre at Derby as a dead load vehicle and numbered 'ADB975813'. It was seen in the snow dumped in the yard at Derby Works on 15th February 1986, although it was not officially withdrawn until December 1988. Disposal took place at C.F.
