As his Royal Corps of Transport colleagues look on in amusement, a private soldier swings on the water column chain following replensihment of 196's saddle tank. The locomotive is Hunslet 3796 built in 1953. This was the morning of the Longmoor Military Railway closure ceremony, 31st October 1969. Up until 1965 the railway came under the Royal Engineers (8 Railway Squadron RE), however the Army reorganisation in 1965 saw the Army Railway officers and tradesmen transfer to the Royal Corps of Transport (8 Railway Squadron RCT).
