The last main line product of the British Locomotive building industry, 3100HP Type 5 Diesel Electic locos built by Brtush Traction at Loughborough, fitted with a Mirrlees 8MB275T engine and Brush Alternators and Traction motors, designed specifically for heavy freight work, 100 locos built in the period 1989 - 1993 sadly very few currently operational but talk of refurbishment and reinstatement for a number of locos (as the 66's fall over?)
