SAR's 'Red Devil'! The unique Class 26 4-8-4 3450, a one-off developed from Class 25 with numerous modifications, it was claimed that coal usage was 30% less than with its Class 25 predecessors, and a Dbhp of 4400HP was also claimed when on test. Sadly, despite SA having vast reserves of coal the loco became a casualty of the switch to oil fuel (despite the fact that SA had to import it).
