Clayton Type 1 (class 17) locos are not widely associated with Staveley Barrow Hill shed, but in April 1966 D8607 stands outside the roundhouse. Delivered new to 41A Sheffield Tinsley (41A) in October 1964, D8607 was reallocated to Scotland shortly after the photo was taken and lasted in service for just five years before withdrawal in May 1971, a total working life of just seven years. ©Charlie Cross/Gordon Edgar Collection/Rail Photoprints
