63795 Nottingham Victoria 030754 RPC245
Annesley based 01 2-8-0 63795 runs through Nottingham Victoria with empty wagons 3/7/54. The locomotive had an interesting history, built by North British for the War Department (and put to traffic as ROD 1899), in 1919 it was loaned to the LNWR becoming 2941, 2 years later in 1921 it was transferred back to ROD, on 17/9/27 it is shown as having been transferred to the LNER becoming number 6595 and based at Langwith. In November 1940 it was loaned to the GWR, it was allocated to Woodford Halse then Gorton and finally West Hartlepool in a 6 week period in early 1943. On 28/10/43 it went into Gorton Woprks for a General re-appearing as an 01 Rebuild with 100A boiler on 13th March 1944, 7/4/46 saw it renumbered by the LNER to 3795 later becoming 63795 under Nationalisation, it was allocated to Annesley on 2/4/50 where it remained until 1957 when it was allocated to March (31B), returning to GC metals at Staveley GC on 13/12/59, withdrawal came on 30/10/63 and it was cut up at Doncaster works. ©Rail Photoprints Collection
