EWS 56091 'Stanton' crosses the Frodsham viaduct over the River Weaver heading the Warrington Arpley to Dee Marsh sidings 'Enterprise' diagram on 7th May 2001. The grain barge 'Panary', constructed in 1937 by Charles Hill & Sons of Bristol, is moored at the quay. At this time she regularly plied between the Port of Liverpool, via the River Mersey, Manchester Ship Canal and the River Weaver conveying grain for the mills at Frodsham. The grain is now shipped to Runcorn Docks (from around 2012/13), bringing to an end the last commercial traffic on the Weaver. Use of the quay at Frodsham can be traced back to around 1670, it originally being used for the shipping of Cheshire cheese to London.
