LNWR/LMS Webb designed 0-4-2 Crane Tank 3247, one of 3such engines which emerged from Crewe Works in 1894, 3247 was the only loco to carry a 4 Ton (lift capacity) Crane which was tethered using a chain to a point behind the dome when not in operation, the 2 other locos had 3 ton cranes having a longer jib which was tethered to a point in front of the boiler dome, 7//5/39. ©George C.
