Hughes-Fowler 'Crab' 2-6-0 No.42789 in steam in the shed yard at Ayr (67C) MPD in July 1966. Previously allocated to Hurlford (67B), it looks as though the 67C smokebox shedplate has recently been applied. Withdrawn from service in December of the same year, 42789 was stored at Stirling depot until despatched for scrap at Motherwell Machinery & Scrap Co. Wishaw in April 1967. ©Charlie Cross - Gordon Edgar collection
