Built by English Electric the 15 Class 83 Electrics had a chequered career many of them were stored at the closed Bury steam shed before rectification work, after which they were returned to traffic. E3098 was one of 3 class members originally intended as dedicated freight locos and to be no'd E3303 - E3305, E3305 was renumbered as E3100 before entering service, E3303/4 were not a success in their freight guise and were regeared and renumbered becoming E3098/3099 in 1963. E3098 was put to store at Bury 9/68 and is seen with a rake of stored Class 84's. 3/72 saw the loco undergo refurbishment at Doncaster Works it returned as 83013. ©Dave Cobbe/Raill Photoprints
