The driver of class 25 25042 heading an up mail at Crewe on 22 October 1983 observes progress as mail bags are exchanged on the platform. The Sulzer Type 2 was delivered new to Toton TMD during May 1963 as D5192 and one of a small number equipped with a Stone Vapour L4610 steam heating boiler for use on secondary passenger workings. By May 1986 it was withdrawn from service at Crewe TMD in full working order as the last remaining vacuum-braked class 25 in service and was disposed of at Vic Berry's Leicester scrapyard during October 1987.
