25224 heading the 1V03 10:00 Crewe to Cardiff at Maindee West Junction, Newport, on 14 February 1981. Withdrawn from service in May 1986. Upon release from Derby works in October 1963 as D7574 it was initially allocated to Cricklewood depot and was one of a small number of class 25/2s fitted with the Stone Vapour L4610 steam heating boiler. Allocated to Crewe from May 1978 it was a regular performer on the steam-heated Mk1 stock used on the Crewe-Cardiff duties, surviving in traffic until May 1986. It was disposed of at Vic Berry, Leicester in February 1987.
