Class '9F' 2-10-0 92123 of Birkenhead (8H) depot emerges from Crewe Works paint shop in Spring 1966, towed by a grubby Stanier 'Black 5'. Despite the works overhaul the '9F' was to remain in service for just over one more year, being withdrawn in October 1967. After a short period of storage at Speke Junction shed it was despatched to T.W.Ward's Beighton scrapyard and cut up during February 1968. ©Charlie Cross/Gordon Edgar Collection/Rail Photoprints
