9F 2-10-0 92220 'Evening Star' climbs away from Bath with the last Pines Express to run via the S & D it is seen on the approach to Devonshire Tunnel, 8/9/62. This single act of vandalism on the part of the Western Region also saw the S & D losing the remainder of it's North South Holiday Cross Country work and heralded the start of the slow run death of the S & D route, culminating with its closure on 7th March 1966. ©John Chalcraft/Rail Photoprints
