The 3rd batch of the Class 59 design, 6 locos purchased by National Power, built at GM's London Ontario (Canada) plant, 59201 arrived in the UK 2/94 and was used for crew training, the other 5 members arrived 8/95. Used initially on National Power Coal and limestone services to and from Ferrybridge but later sold to EWS, they are now maintained out of Merehead and are largely found on aggregate services.
