D6892 Ranelagh Bridge 0566 RPC628
During 1966 in an effort to increase speed/punctuality a small number of the South Wales allocated English Electric Type 3's were re-geared for 100mph running, these locos were then trialled on the Paddington - South Wales, Bristol and Exeter passenger services, despite the accelerated timings the benefits were not considered sufficient and the experiment faded into obscurity. In May 1966 D6892 and D6879 growl out of Paddington as they pass Ranelagh Bridge fuel point with 1B06 for the West, (any train identification information would be appreciated) 5/66. ©Rail Photoprints Collection
