Scotrail class 37/0 No.37112 has its train heating boiler blown down on Haymarket TMD in the rain on 23rd October 1983. Built by the English Electric Company at the Vulcan Foundry, Newton-le-Willows as D6812, she was allocated new to Darnall, Sheffield (41A), in February 1963 moving to Tinsley when the depot opened the following year. A further move took it to 51L (Thornaby) in October 1971, remaining there until renumbering under the TOPS scheme to 37112 in February 1974, when she moved south to March TMD. From March the loco moved steadily northwards once more with allocations to Tinsley (10/76), Healey Mills (1/79), Gateshead (5/80) and onto Glasgow Eastfield in June 1980. She remained at Eastfield until called to works for refurbishment and conversion to class 37/5 in 1986, emerging from Crewe as 37510 in June of the same year and taking up duties at Cardiff Canton TMD. She was not to remain on the Western Region for long however, moving back to the Eastern Region in January 1987 and returned to her former one-time home at Thornaby. More recently the loco has seen use out of Motherwell, Immingham and Inverness and following storage and Sandite duties saw use in France from August 1999. Following a return to UK soil 37510 passed from EWS into DRS ownership.
